What gets you through the day?

Specifically, what is your mantra , motto or slogan? Since 1988, Nike splashed across clothing and advertisements “Just Do It”. It still applies, it still works, it’s still stuck in my brain.

Steer Clear.

Dr. Pepper offered “What’s the worst that can happen?” Experience taught me a lot can happen and does!

How about “There’s Always Tomorrow”?

Another one from my perspective that misses the mark. Another chance to do good? Another chance to pollute the environment?Another opportunity to misjudge? Another chance to win an Oscar? Too ambiguous.

More slogans that thwart the elevation of my human development include “The Best is Yet to Come”. I will never again gobble up my mother’s annual Thanksgiving feast. The best Thanksgiving dinner has come and gone.

“No Pain, No Gain”. Reading, attending a lecture, watching waves on the shore, listening to John Legend, all require no pain and yet the rewards arrive just the same.

“The saddest thing in life is wasted talent”. What counts as “saddest” in any life is personal and yes, wasted talent is sad. For me, though, the saddest things in life are children neglected, abused, traumatized.

Effective for recovery and beyond.

Al Anon meetings introduced me to great, effective slogans.

One day at a time.

Keep it simple.

Let go, let God.

Music lyrics.

These work as powerful mottos that you can sing and dance to.

Hit me with your best shot — Pat Benator

I will survive — Gloria Gaynor

Every little thing gonna be alright — Bob Marley

Don’t worry, be happy — Bobby McFerrin

Let it be — The Beetles

You got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the world all the love in your heart. — Carole King

Yes!

Have as many words of wisdom, mantras, mottos , or slogans that you like to motivate, calm, inspire, and lift your spirits. Feel the fear and do it anyways worked for my sky diving adventure. “Be all you can be”, the Army recruitment slogan, inspires me to do just that.

Magic.

About two year ago, anxiety crept back into my everyday experiences. Not letting that stop me, I booked a trip with a group of women to Greece. Embarking and disembarking the ferries through loud, aggressive voices to MOVE NOW in a crowd of foot traffic, cars and trucks all at the same time was crazy. Then a hand placed on my back and a voice saying 3 words instantly shifted my reality.

It happened several times before I knew the petite, powerful, and beautiful human angel named Denise. We sat next to each other on yet another ferry and she said, “All is well.” Mystery solved. She taught me the compassion, understanding and simplicity in All is Well. 3 easy words allowed me to have faith, trust and love to replace my fear.

Now when you forget and you sweat the small stuff, or when faced with some weird drama, you forget to breathe, or you tighten your shoulders, or start to worry, say All is well. It works for me. These three short words filled with wisdom and a nudge towards introspection do the job. Ready, set, go. Do it today.

PS: This is my first blog. If you enjoyed it give me lots of claps!
